Due diligence
For homeowners, builders, inspectors and insurers: what the shingle is rated for, what each test means, and what the warranty covers.
25-year warranty on the roof and solar when installed by an Energy ReLeaf cooperative member installer.
Batteries and electronics: 10-year warranty (third-party components).
The 25 years covers the roof and the solar together, because on this roof they are the same part. Ask for the written warranty with your proposal so you can read the full terms.

Ratings and listings
A solar shingle has two jobs, so it carries two sets of ratings: roofing tests for fire, wind and rain, and module listings for electrical safety and durability. Every rating below applies to both the PH-055 and the PH-060.
| Rating | Standard | Result | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fire | UL 790 | Class A | The top fire rating a roof covering can earn. |
| Wind | UL 1897 | 110–200 mph | Uplift testing for roof coverings. The rating depends on the fastening schedule and the site's exposure category, so we confirm the number for your roof in the proposal. |
| Wind-driven rain | TAS 100 | Tested | A Florida Building Code test that drives water at the roof with high wind to check that it stays out of the deck. |
| Hail | Impact test | 2 in steel ball from 51 in | A 2-inch steel ball is dropped from 51 inches onto the shingle's glass. If a shingle is ever damaged, it is replaced on its own. |
| Module safety | UL 1703 | Listed | The U.S. safety standard for flat-plate solar modules: electrical, fire and mechanical safety of the module itself. |
| Module design | IEC 61215 | Certified | The international design and durability qualification for crystalline silicon modules, covering thermal cycling, damp heat, humidity-freeze and mechanical load tests. |
| Equipment lists | CEC and FSEC | Listed | Listed by the California Energy Commission and the Florida Solar Energy Center, two public equipment lists for solar products. |
| Temperature | Operating range | −40 to +90 °C | Rated to run from northern winters to roof surfaces in desert and Gulf Coast summers. |
Who asks for this
Tell your insurer the roof is a solar roof, and give them the Class A fire rating and the wind rating for your roof. Coverage depends on your policy.
Solar roofs for homesThe wind rating follows the fastening schedule, so match the schedule to the exposure category on the plans.
